Powell, Maker Marysville" stamped in oval ] over hard rubber into hooded cap; no hook keeper; wraps early golden bronze silk on bronze snakes & tip tops; bright stripper; dark-tone varnished bamboo; bright N/S ferrules; one intermediate wrap between each guide; 4 intermediates alternating narrow & wide between butt & first guide. 2-up node staggering. Book matched tips. In original bag & alum. tube. Circa 1930-1940’s. [Cat. 2020.] FB 200212 io. – This well-used rod has seen some service. I put it through its paces with a DT-6F Sylk line; it is a fine fishing stick. Some people might prefer a WF-7F line. The mid-section is short 1 ¼ in. at the upper ferrule station; one tip is down 5 in.; original stripper guide crudely replaced with a chrome stripper; grip is moderately soiled with a thumb rest; original rod was an oil finish as indicted by the smell of the rod bag. It has retained the casting attributes which characterize most Powell fly rods. It is not a piece of beauty, but it sure can cast! With noted short sections, Good. $595
