He lived with the Fuegian Indians, learned their intricate language, legends, and folklore. The Ono tribe was almost completely wiped out by white man’s diseases. Orville Prescott in his list of “Ten Best Books of the Year” in the NY Times, calls this “…the autobiography of a pioneer who spent most of his life in Terra del Fuego. A superb combination of personal adventure, frontier history, and Indian lore…a book of permanent importance.” With 97 photographs & 5 maps.
