8vo illus. 1st Ed. -60-172. Hallock (1889-1953) was an Oregon lawyer who flyfished the Northwest & elsewhere with friends Spencer Biddle, Justice William Douglas & others. He fished many prime streams & areas- Deschutes, McKenzie, Rogue, Willamette, other streams in Washington, British Columbia, & Alaska; Baja California for yellowtail, rooster fish, & dorado; Jamaica & Key West for tarpon & snook; Japan for trout; Bali & Panama for exotic fish; Switzerland for trout; Great Britain & Ireland for trout & salmon. He preferred fly fishing, but often made do with tackle of the moment. When he ran out of bucktail flies for tarpon in Jamaica, he sent out a native for goat tail, who returned with 8 complete tails cut from live goats! This MS was started almost 100 years ago; it lay undiscovered for 60 years. Period photographs & drawings by the author enhance the book. A fascinating read. New DJ.
