FB 190169. 6’6” ORVIS DELUXE 2/3. [3 tips; 2 repaired] 2 oz. #4/5 line. 5/64" tip; 11/64" mid; 5 inch Half-Wells grip; dual alum. slide bands over cork with alum. butt cap; Marked “[indecipherable] xxx/ Batten….” in black ink on shaft; Serial No. “15637” marked on tips & butt; Flap-ring hook keeper at butt; wraps brown on bronze snakes & tip tops over dark impregnated bamboo; varnish only on wraps; Perfection stripper; Oxidized N/S ferrules; In Orvis Plaid bag & Orvis Black anodized Alum. Tube. [Cat. 2019] FB 190169 inz –This model is the possible forerunner of the Orvis “Superfine” & “Flea” series; Wes Jordan himself made a run of these rods in March 24, 1954 according to the Orvis Bamboo Database. I tossed the rod with a WF-4F Cortland Sylk line- it made beautiful loops on demand. The grip on this 65-year-old rod is heavily soiled and ridged. All sections are full length; and relatively straight. One of the original tips has a 2 ½ inch repair wrap between the tip top and the first guide; another tip has a 3 in. repair wrap in the mid-section. Aside from the repair wraps on 2 tips, the bamboo appears structurally sound and in very good shape. The area adjacent the stripper guide shows some line marks. The guide & ferrule wraps are near Fine. A fine fishing stick; still has lots of fishing in it. With noted condition of the grip & the repair wraps, Good. $525
