He also repaired and finished bamboo rods. I fished with Art in Maine and on the Miramichi R. NB and the Matapedia R. Quebec. We always had a great time even when the fish were scarce. The original rod shaft by Schaaf has 3-up node staggering in the butt and spiral staggering in the tip; the new tip for #8 line uses spiral staggering also, but has much beefier bamboo in the middle section, and has strong resorcinol glue lines. The #7 rod tossed a DT-7 line with a fine driving loop; The #8 tip drove a DT-8 with real authority. The original Schaaf sections are full-length and straight; the #8 tip has some squiggles in it, but casts very well. Grip moderately soiled. Very Good. $1050
