Tube. [Cat. 2018] FB 180069 jrx. – Geo. H. Burtis of Worchester MA was in business from 1895 to 1916; he won a Gold Medal at the St. Louis Exposition in 1904. Many of his rods were unmarked with a maker’s name. However, his distinctive use of swelled cedar and bamboo extending through the reel seat with the prominent N/S real seat plate is not found in other makers. Burtis rods are shown in Jeffrey Hatton ROD CRAFTING [Amato 2005] pp. 138-139 & pp. 146-147. This rod has been carefully restored, but could use an additional coat of varnish. A fine example of a scarce turn-of-the-century fly rod. Fine Restored. $350
