One of 75 Numbered Copies, Signed by Designer and Illustrator.-Lewis Carroll's enigmatic poem has been arranged as a PLAY for children (and an AMUSEMENT for adults), with original music and wood engraved illustrations by Maryline Poole Adams, designer, printer, and binder of the edition. Adhering strickly to the text of Carroll's poem (incorporating his and Humpty-Dumpty's notes and definitions), M. P. Adams has arranged the verses into dramatic form with some stanzas set to original music composed by Adams. The book is letterpress printed in handset Deepdene type on Rives Heavyweight paper; quarterbound in black cloth with black and grey printed papers (in a trompe l'oeil pattern designed by Susan Acker) over boards; red spine label. There are 5 wood engravings, including one on the colophon page. 11 1/4" h. x 6 3/4" w. P-6. New.

Early maroon half-morocco, gilt decorations, t.e.g. Marbled end papers. With an extra uncolored print of Plate 9 laid in. Plate image size 13 in by 8.5 in. [Cat. 72] 16-0133 con-dr. –A rare fly fishing portfolio by the prolific and popular Victorian caricaturist and illustrator John Leech. Many of the plates depict Mr. Briggs trying to catch a salmon. Leech produced over 3000 drawings and 600 cartoons for the magazine PUNCH. These are some of these drawings. Westwood & Satchell BIBLIOTHECA PISCATORIA. 1883. p. 133: “Enlarged and tinted reproductions of the drawings which originally appeared in PUNCH. Copies are now scarce and dear.” A rare humorous account of salmon fishing produced over 150 years ago. Morocco is worn on the edges with some chipping at the spine ends; all plates clean with no foxing. Many copies of this book have been broken up for the plates. Complete sets in the original book are rare. With Bookplate of Eugene Grosman on front end paper. Very Good. $950
